Dear Fellow PHPDetroit Member,
PHPDetroit is back after a few months off. Yes, it's been a while since the last meeting (July), so we should a lot of catching up to do. The next meetup is tentatively planned for December 12th, but we need your help to decide where. I've started a poll here:
http://www.meetup.com/detroit-area-php-developers-network/polls/214581/ For those of you that are new to the group, WELCOME! Each meeting we've had in past has been full of information for both the new PHP programmer to the seasoned code walkers. Here's some topics we've talked about in past:
- PHP Certification
- Working with Clients - Outsourcing VS. Working with you
- How do you overcome this.
- Typical Experiences
- The actual costs of low cost labor
- Language barrier
- Use of Frameworks (recurring topic)
- Development Environments
- Using PHP beyond the web environment
- PHP Logging of errors - Log4PHP
- Trap errors to a log instead of to the screen.
- Improve end user experience
- http://logging.apache.org/log4php/
- Our PHP5 updated version
- Using Splunk to analyze logs from log4php, MySQL, Apache, system logs all in a single view
- Associate events in views to see what failed, or what triggered failures
- Virtually merges multiple log sources
- http://www.splunk.com
- Memory Profiling in PHP
What will we talk about next? Good question! We have a number of ideas but would rather hear what you, the PHP programmer, want to talk about here:
